Soundfly welcomes new voices each month to offer unique perspectives, shine a light on unexpected musical worlds, and help our readers find their sound. At a time where we have access to all this music, the experience should be amazing. Genres play a big part in that. Identifying what genre each individual song belongs to helps us identify songs with a similar “vibe.” Today, classification of songs is still a manual process. With 20,000 new songs being added to streaming services every day, it’s a very big problem that’s only getting bigger.

Art grants 2019

Earlier this year, we launched a collection with the INA (the National Audiovisual Institute of France), entitled 33 Tours avec l’INA. This collection includes three projects from singers Ray Charles, Serge Gainsbourg, and Dalida. All three projects saw a successful pre-order run, and we’ve just launched the production of 500 copies for each project! Here’s one of my favorite on the list! Chamber music america grants

I’m not so interested in figuring out whether the track is “good” or “bad.” Instead, I want to find out, given the student’s goal, how they could move closer to it. Evan Zwisler is a NYC-based musician who is most notably known for his work with The Values as a songwriter and guitarist. He is an active member of the Brooklyn music scene, throwing fundraisers and organizing compilations for Planned Parenthood and the Anti-Violence Project. He started playing music in the underground punk scene of Shanghai with various local bands when he was in high school before going to California
